Whats your best guess for how this slowdown is going to end? Do you think it will continue or will it get better?

I think for the Trades it should be OK even though the industrial guys are taking a beating. A lot of Easteners who have been laid off are heading home and I don't know what's happening with the off shore guys. Are they laid off and sent home 'cuz in my opinion they should be the first to go.
Amazing thing is that even with commodities being at what, a 10 year low; the oil companies are cutting development. Just over a year ago they were complaining of high construction costs and yet when material prices are down they cancel or downsize projects. I have a feeling they're going to try and hammer the Unions when it's raise time this spring and if they succeed in cutting wages the projects will go full bore.
BTW, the 2004 $12B.plus Syncrude expansion was built on a $35 bbl. oil price so it must be all us working guys that get all the cash.
Anyway, unless the Americans get their crap together and start things rolling down there, we're not going anywhere fast....

Screw the Yanks, we're doing just fine. Probably right about the grind on Union wages. They'll try just because the timing allows it. But hold the line boys. They can cut back on some of their waste. That's where the "missing" money goes. Not to crew payroll.
